Heard a rumor tonight (from someone who knows) that New Jersey is in some serious financial trouble. If they don't get out of this first round, there could be a problem. Very interesting... hadn't heard much about troubles in New Jersey, but it's not shocking. I wonder if the players know about the added pressure?

its an interesting point. in these financial times I bet many teams are at or near this position. Not only playing to win but for the life of the team.
Sales are way down. Even the wings had empty seats last season.
I wouldnt be destressed seeing a couple teams go but not New Jersey. That would be a big bummer.

I havent heard anything about Financial trouble in NJ, and I dont want to see them move. Didnt they get a new stadium recently?

relatively recently... but i think the Nets play there too?
It would seem that once one of the two, NYI or NJD, folds... the other will get a ton of new fans. It could save the Devils if the Isles move.
But I shoudl point out... all I'm saying with this rumor is that the current ownership may have to sell. That doesn't necessarily mean that the team is moving.
Edit: The Nets actually still play at Continental Airlines Arena (now the IZod Center), while the Devils play at the new Prudential Center - also home to an XSL team (indoor soccer) and an ILL team (indoor lacrosse).
