LA signs Erik Ersberg to a two year extension. Ersberg would have been an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The dude on VS last night (sorry, I don't know any announcer's names as I usually prefer listening to my 8 year old throw a tantrum to listening to thier incessant babble, this post being the exception and not the rule)

Recchi on TSN right now:
correction: Len Barrie, one of the Lightning owners, did notify Recchi he was dealt to Boston. Recchi said hes excited to join the Bruins. He said there is nothing better than playoff hockey.

Recchi on TSN right now: Of course Tampa didn't notify Recchi he was dealt to Boston...but Recchi said hes excited to join the Bruins. He said there is nothing better than playoff hockey. That's a little thumbing of the nose if I've ever heard one! Similiar departure as Pittsburgh. lashoff karsums recchi '10 2nd rounder is what i just heard

I didn't hear the 2nd rounder, but I did correct myself above, Tampa did contact Recchi, and in the interview with Recchi he had nothing but good things to say about the Lightning owners.

I heard about the second rounder. Interesting the Lightening loose a pick at the deadline. Those prospects better be good.

Well either way I really like that deal for Tampa Bay a lot!! Lashoff is a guy who desperately needs a change of scenery and could still develop into a top pairing defenseman. He should be called up by Tampa and be inserted on their injury depleted blueline immediately. Karsums is a guy who has had a tremendous amount of success in the AHL but never really was given a chance in Boston. I like to think he could be a 2nd line winger...possibly playing with Stamkos.

I like the deal for TB too. For the same reasons Randy said, plus just getting something tangible for a player who's leadship may be undeniable, but who's skills have diminished too significantly. I say this based on seeing him in Pittsburgh that last year. It's tough to say b/c everyone loves a guy like Recchi, but he had no spot on our roster. We were hoping every game to hear his name as a scratch. Anyway, if they keep him and wait, they'll get less and less going forward.

Recchi played great for Atlanta after leaving Pittsburgh and hes played very well for Tampa this season. I can understand maybe he was heading downhill a bit in Pittsburgh but I can tell you hes not the same player. Hes made some unbelievable passes this season, his vision has just been great. Hes also been more physical than I've seen him in recent years, the other night he delivered a hit I forget on who but it just rocked the guy into the boards.
I like this deal very much for Tampa going forward, but Boston adds a high quality veteran who can still play to a very young lineup.

Dominic Moore to Chicago? They don't know who/what's coming back.

Bob McKenzie just said on TSN that Moore to Chicago is an "erroneous" deal, that it did not happen.

Guerin is a Pen, much like I suspected he would be. TSN is reporting Peter Forsberg will officially announce his retirement soon...hes in Denver right now. TSN report: Avs just stated that Forsberg is NOT in Denver, and no announcement is set to be made.

Thats a really good pickup by Pittsburgh. I'd take Guerin over Satan any single day of the week. A Kunitz-Crosby-Guerin line has an awful lot of potential...I wonder who they had to give up? I'm guessing at least a 2nd round pick and a prospect.

Definitely need to see what we lost though. And everyone's confirming now. Not known the rest yet though

Isles get a conditional pick from Pittsburgh for Guerin.
Its a 5th round pick for sure, but if Pittsburgh makes the playoffs it becomes a 4th round pick. If they win a round in the playoffs, it becomes a 3rd round pick. Thats it.
Wow...Isles didn't get a very good return for Guerin at all, did they? Not in comparison to what Tampa got for Recchi.

Sportsnet is reporting that Sami Pahlsson has been traded to the Hawks. This guy is one of the best checkers in the league. If this deal is done I would imagins Moore is not going to the Hawks.

Well hes on there just bashing the Lightning, he said "Why would Marty St. Louis want to stay in Tampa? Why would he?! You know how long its gonna be before they are good again?!" And he said some other stuff too but...anyways...
hes just an idiot sometimes. When Tampa makes the playoffs next season, I can't wait to hear him talk about "how good the Lightning are!"

Oh yea, Pierre. It's really hard to go from the bottom of the league to the top. Just ask the Flyers and the Bruins.

And Washington...and countless others over the years...
Back to the deadline though...
I must admit its been a very, very slow deadline day. Especially in comparison to the last couple years. You have to think there are about to be a flurry of deals announced.
