A 4 year deal at $6 million a year.
A pretty fair deal. To compare, Giguere makes $6 a year and Miller $6.25.

I was very surprised to see this when I woke up this morning but very excited! This is fantastic news for anyone with Backstrom in a keeper league(such as myself). Very good deal for one of the best goaltenders in the National Hockey League. This should mean by the start of training camp Josh Harding is in a uniform somewhere else.

Yea, I wouldn't be surprised to see Harding dealt at the deadline even. He could get the Wild some scoring punch, from team like Ottawa or Colorado.

Yes. I knew this deal would go down. There is just no way Minnesota wanted to part ways with Backstrom just yet. Harding isn't ready to take over any team at this point. It will be interesting to see if they trade Harding for some offensive help. This would really put them in position to get that 8th or 7th spot. Then, anything can happen in the playoffs!

The Wings organization is convinced that Osgood will kick in on in the towards the end of the season and the playoffs. If not, there's always Conklin, who's got what, 1 playoff game of experience?
