Wow did you hear montreal gave Kovalev a few days off for lackluster play. I know he has a reputation for not showing up even though he is the teams bonified superstar but I guess I didn't realize it was this bad.

This somewhat shocked me because most of the time healthy scratch does the job but Montreal just bypassed those shenanigans and told him to go home. A firm and direct message to Kovalev.

Well this has been the knock on Kovalev for years...he very obviously doesn't put forth his best effort on the ice, and I think with how the Habs have been struggling and looking like they might not even make the playoffs they've finally had enough. They also demoted Sergei Kostitsyn to the AHL...which I've noticed have received very little attention in the media. It seems at this stage that if Montreal was going to go after Lecavalier the time would be now. While I hope and pray the Lightning don't deal him, unfortunately for me Montreal does have the assets to throw together to possibly pry him away...say something like Plekanec, Higgins, Max Pacioretty, Ben Maxwell prospect defenseman Ryan McDonagh and a 2009 1st round draft pick...something along those lines, a nice package could be thrown together.
