Mike Green broke the longtime record for longest goal scoring streak for a D with a powerplay tally 5:33 into the second period tonight against the Lightning. Any predictions how far he'll take this streak?

Now I think a defensemen scoring 30 goals in 1 season is a little insane but Green is well on pace to do it this year. Good for him and good for Washington for locking him up quickly 5.250 million sure sounds like a steal about now if he's gonna put up points like he has.

Green is on pace for an incredible 34 goals and 78 points, and thats with him missing around 13 games earlier this season. The former 29th overall pick from 2004 is looking like he may have already dethrone Dion Phaneuf as the most sought after defenseman in fantasy keeper leagues. Hes been highly touted in Washington since he was drafted, with many comparing him to hall of famer Paul Coffey...what a player to be compared to eh? He was looking like a sure fire top four defenseman, but nobody would have guessed he'd be this good. It'll be interested to see how he does the rest of the year.

I was thinking about taking him in the 4th rd this year and now I am kicking myself for not doing it Yeah he is certainlly in there with Chara, Phenuf now for fantasy D. Watching the kid play is amazing, with him out there its almost like they have an extra man because he fills in as an extra forward on the rush and cycle but then gets back on D almost all the time. He is all over the ice and so dominant. Bret Burns is kinda like that too but has not put up the points consistantly like Green has.
