The Mats Sundin saga finally ended in mid December when the former Leafs captain agreed to a one year deal with the Vancouver Canucks, ending literally over 6 months worth of speculation on where he would play.
Since arriving in Vancouver, Sundin has become what many Canucks fan call a "huge bust" having only score 2 goals and 3 points in 9 games. To make matters much worse than his lack of production, is the Canucks have yet to win a single game, going 1-5-3 while only getting 5 out of a possible 18 points during that stretch. Many Canucks fans are calling for Sundin's head.
"Obviously, it hasn't been up to par," Sundin told the Vancouver Province. "I expect myself to be more productive than I have been so far."
"Physically, I'm pretty close to where I should be," said Sundin. "The legs are not a problem, it's a case of getting production."
Will Vancouver be at the bottom of the Western Conference when or if he finally does start to produce?

Sundin will hit a torrid pace at some point but the question is will they have slid too far for it to make a difference. I don't know the details to the nth degree but I know about how he parted from Toronto on pretty bad terms. But at the end of the day I don't see how signing with Vancover put him in a better positon then if he went back to the leafs. I think he should have waved his no trade clause last year so the leafs could have bettered themselves then played for the leafs again. That whole situatuon was a train wreck for Toronto and in the end everyone suffered especially the team. I certainly lost respect for him and the Toronto organization for a poorly managed siituation. If they both flop this year then they will simply lay in the bed they made But it sure is good drama in the mean time.

I agree with you fuku. Sundin has been more interested in playing Texas Hold 'Em the past few years......

People are jumping all over Sundin, but he's not the problem at all for the Canucks. They've given an average of over 4 goals a game over their last 5 games, this isn't a recent trend either, they've been giving up too many goals for a month and a half now. It's hard for any team to win when they are giving up that many goals, especially a 'defense first' team.
Really, he's just getting the short end of the stick here. Sure he's not putting up big numbers, but he wasn't expected to in his first month back. This team needs to get back to the shut down style they've played the last three years. If they can do that, this top six will score enough to get into the playoffs.
