Something to watch if you need D he is a PP QB. Could be a poor mans Boyle if his shoulder holds up. And I mean poor like Boyle pan handling on a street corner but the #1 D and PP position is now his too loose.

Hoe many 'poor man's Boyles' have their been? Kuba and Ranger when he was hurt.... then maybe Picard, and after him there was Mezsaros and Kracijek... I think Tampa is beginning to realize that losing Boyle was a big mistake.

I'm not sure if you heard someone describe some of these players as a "poor man's Boyle" from someone else, but its not really an appropriate nickname for any of those players. Tampa realized trading Boyle was a mistake about two weeks into the season...I admit, even I was in denial before then...but the evidence is there.
But Murphy is definitely someone to pickup now because its not a debate on whether or not he has the talent. Murphy handles the puck terrificly, and rushes down the ice in similar fashion the way Boyle can, like a sharp knife cutting through cake. Its just a question of two things: 1) will his shoulder that has given him so much trouble the last couple of years hold up? He says he feels better than he has in a while but that could be just talk, and even if its not it might not stay that way. 2) If his shoulder does hold up, he has to show he isn't easily knocked off the puck. Boyle had a hard time with the latter the first couple of years he was in Tampa but that aspect improved greatly eventually.
I'm not getting my hopes up, but where there is potential there is a chance.

600 000 for Foster is a steal. A smart, low risk/high reward signing by Tampa.
Tampa starting to look pretty good. Solid goaltending, a pretty reliable D-corps and two of the best forwards in the league. The only thing they are missing is a top six winger, but I don't know if they have the cap space to do it.

Exacly, I love their top five forwards, but there's a huge step down to their sixth guy. Maybe Bochenski gets a shot. He's the only other guy on that team with hands.

Prospal Lecavalier St. Louis Malone Halpern Hall Pettinger (UFA) Stamkos Artyukhin Smolenak (RFA) Craig Downie
Ranger Meszaros Ohlund Hedman Foster Murphy(UFA)
Smith Ramo Niittymaki
Not too shabby, Probably way off but thought it would be good for discussion. Not sure about stamkos, last season was really strange not sure why the held him back.
Too bad they let feditanko go. When he moved I was like Wha what! But bet he is happy carrying the cup around all summer after all. Also Jurssi Jokinen, that sucked too.
Of course this team could make big moves any moment and have a whole new face.

NHL.com is reporting that Murphy signed with Jersey....is that correct? Did the Bolts trade for the rights to another player and then lose him as a UFA? Didn't that happen last year with Rolston? (didn't he also go to NJ?....Is Tampa Bay the hockey Twilight Zone?)
Tampa's still not lookin too good in my opinion, but they're definitely making improvements. Hopefully Hedman can solidify their D in the next year or 2 and then I think they'll be at least playoff worthy again. But their D is pretty solid with all things considered. If they could get a hold of one more decent, even a mid level decent winger they'd be all right.

I think Kracijek would be inserted into Murphy's spot of fuji's lineup. The injuries Murphy's had the past two years have really slowed him down.

Ramo is gone to the KHL. Nitty was brought in to replace him.
Earlier this month the Lightning also signed former Wild checker Stephane Veilleux. He's a good skater and hitter and will fit in nicely with their bottom six forwards.
I also forgot the Lightning signed Matt Walker. He's a hard nosed tougher type D-man, but I'm not sure where he fits into the lineup. Maybe he gets in when Foster and/or Kraicek get hurt. Personally, I think Stamkos will get 2nd line minutes this year. His performance at the World Championships this year was pretty solid, and he got a lot of ice time when you consider the players he had around him (Heatley, Spezza, St. Louis etc.). He was also a point per game for the last 25 games of the season. Based on that, I think he'll put up pretty decent numbers this year.
