THE COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS HAVE SIGNED KRISTIAN HUSELIUS TO A FOUR-YEAR, $19 MILLION CONTRACT. (Spectors & NHL.com)
Interesting move. Just as streaky as Zherdev. Tough loss for the Flames. He played well there.

Well not bad in the end I think because they may have had something set to get Husleius they were willing to part w/ Zherdev and they got 2 solid d-man in return and as far as Fritsche i think he can be replaced w/ the emergence of Brassard so Columbus did well in the end.

This move makes no sense, Huselius basically replaced Zherdev but isn't as an explosive of an offensive player that Zherdev is. Its gotta be a tough time to be a Jackets fan, thank god for them that they were able to steal Filatov and that Leclaire finally emerged as a true no. 1 goaltender, its pretty much the only thing not named Rick Nash the organization has going for them.

I agree. The Jackets looked like they were headed in the right direction last season. Management really screwed the pooch this year though. Defense is looking real shabby. Tyutin isn't going to be the answer. No Foote, no Hainsey, no Berard....not that they had the best D core last season, but it's really bad now.
Essentially giving away their youth, Zherdev, Fritschie, Brule.....all have a lot of potential. Pissani and Huselius won't be able to make up the difference. If I were Rick Nash, I'd be pulling a Lebron James and warning the franchise that their "franchise" player is going to walk if they don't start giving him some talent to work with.
