What a career over 600 goals over 1600 pts a franchise player all with the same team, cup rings, hall of fame team mates. You don't see careers like this often.

I always kind of group Modano, Sakic, and Yzerman together... drafted in the mid- to late-80s, played their whole careers with one franchise... captains, points, stanley cups.
Sakic retired 8th all-time in regular season points, 14th in regular season goals, 11th in regular season assists, 8th in regular season SOG, 7th in playoff points, 7th in playoff goals, 20th in playoff assists.
What an amazing career.
#1 all-time in playoff overtime goals... 8!! twice as many as the next guy.

Simply one of the greatest. He's a guy you'd love to lead your team yet the guy you hate to face because of his great wrist shot and playmaking abilities. They don't call him "Super Joe" for nothing. Class act, sure fire Hall of Famer and I wish him nothing but the best.

He's always been one of my favorite players even though he was on all of those Av teams that I hated growing up.
I met him once when I worked for Disney. He came into my attraction as a VIP and because everyone knew I was a hockey fan they let me escort him. I'm not going to lie I really wanted to point out what a huge Wings fan I was (this was a few months after the Wings knocked the Av's out of the Western Conference finals in that blow out game 7 in 02) but to be honest I was so star struck I didn't say a whole lot.
And to be honest.....he was the least friendly, and most arrogant celebrity or athlete I've ever met. I'm still a big fan, but I was really disappointed that he was such a jerk. But to be fair he was at Disney World with his family and that can get kinda stressful in the middle of the summer.

Family vacations can be some of the worst times in life maybe he was just all stressed out but then again when you make more in one game then most people do in 10 years it probably goes to your head after 15 - 20 years.

Burnaby Joe will be missed. It's too bad he had to play for a division rival, but Vancouver still loves him.
