Do you guys feel Frolik, or Berglund is a straight up trade for a Hedman/Duchene? Would you add something to it? Don't worry about positions. I'm just looking for straight value here. Large stat cat usage, down to FWs and SOG.
Thanks.

i think duchene's value is a little higher than both frolik and berglund. higher risk, obviously, because he hasn't proven anything yet... but much higher upside.
not quite sure how to compare those guys to hedman... obviously they're going to score more points, win more faceoffs, take more shots. but hedman takes a D spot on the starting lineup, so...

THanks zoom.
I think I'm going to just go with Duchene (over hedman). I'm a bit stronger on D in this rebuild team, with Campbell, Whitney, Pietrangelo, Yandle, and a decent set of prospects in Sekera, Lepisto...
Anyway, I was getting the unproven speak and peeps were looking for Duchene +, which I don't feel I need to do.
thanks buddy.

sounds about right. i'm not convinced hedman's ever going to score more than 50 points in the NHL... and definitely not in the next 3-5 years. in my opinion, that's not worth my 2nd overall pick in fantasy hockey. not over duchene, anyway.

I know answered your question via PM Chiro, but just wanted to state it publicly for the record.
I'm a big Patrik Berglund fan, but hes no franchise player and thats exactly what both Hedman and Duchene are going to be in the NHL. Frolik is less than a sure thing that Berglund is, so not worth even mentioning IMO. Duchene is going to be, flat out, an elite, offensive force just like Tavares, while Hedman will be a big point producing defenseman one day will be the most sought after defenseman in all fantasy hockey. Not only wouldn't I trade a Hedman/Duchene for Berglund or Frolik, I wouldn't trade a Hedman or Duchene for BOTH Berglund and Frolik together.
Oh and btw, whoever's trying to rip you off in that O10 league, tell'em I said hes crazy.

I don 't know where this stuff about Duchene is coming from. Am I missing something?
Certainly, he looks like a guy who'll make a very good NHL player, but to say he's an elite offensive force, to compare him to Tavares? How can we do that?
2008-2009 Stats:
Matt Duchene : 57 GP 31G 48A 79P
John Tavares: 56 GP 58G 46A 104P
Seems to be a bit of a difference there. Assist totals are similar, but there's a huge difference between 31 goals and 58 goals, and 31 is Duchene's career-high.
Duchene may turn out to be a franchise-type player (though I personally don't think so -- he seemed to be the safe choice, the most easily projectable NHL top-six forward in the draft, not necessarily the best), but I don't really see him being a fantasy franchise player.
That said, I wouldn't deal the second-overall pick for Berglund or Frolik either.
