Now that the regular season is over I thought that I would see if I can get some different opinions on my players to see what kind of value everyone thinks they have. Thanks!!!
I've done this 4 yrs in a row at the end of my keeper league season to try to get some input on what moves make sense. I'm in a 19-team keeper league and my team is in my signature. I finished out of the money this year due to an upset loss in the playoffs, but my team has finished in 2nd place 2 of the past 4 seasons.
Here's my take on my forwards:
1. Malkin (age 22) - this kid is an elite talent and hopefully will only get better (which is scary). I consistently see a 40 goal/60 assist type player.
2. Eric Staal (age 24) - just picked him up in a trade for Steven Stamkos. He is a fantasy stud in our league based on 40 goals and 370 SOG's.
3. Rick Nash (age 24) - finally starting to see the overall development for the power forward. Annual 40/40 seasons would suit me just fine.
4. Jeff Carter (age 24) - Not expecting 46 goals every year, but I can consistently see 35+ for basically my #3 center (not too shabby)
5. Gaborik (age 27) - I know that alot of people talk about the injuries and his absence this year may well have cost me the championship, but I am hoping (again) that the last month he played is more like the Gaborik for 2009 and getting out if Minnesota might just see him finally push toward a 50 goal season.
6. Zetterberg (age 28) - the back worries me, but the production is always there when he's in the line-up. I can't see him being less than a 30/30 player even in a down year and upside is 40 goals.
7. Semin (age 25) - when this guy decides to play he is a beast. His skill set alone should have him 2nd on this list. If he can stay healthy then 40 goals/80 pts seems like a given.
8. Mueller (age 21)- being in Phoenix 2 yrs ago and watching alot of Coyotes games, I love this kids talent. He had a down yr this past season but I think he'll rebound.
9. A Kostitsyn (age 24) - has high-end skill but I think he needs to have the puck more (and playing with Kovalev that is not going to happen)
10. Turris (age 19) - tough rookie season but I am expecting some progress next year and hopefully 2 to 3 yrs down the road once he puts on some weight and gets stronger he'll be a force much the same way Stamkos was the last 2 months this year.
11. Colborne (age 19 - farm team) - don't know alot about this kid other than what I have read, but he's on my farm team and I am in no rush to add him to my roster (I can keep him on my farm team until he hits 25 NHL games).
Here's my take on my d-man:
1. Green (age 23) - 30 goals from a d-man! He led our fantasy league in scoring by a whopping 45 pts despite missing 14 games (won me $50 bucks as top d-man too!)
2. Bogosian (age 18) - I traded Dan Boyle last year for the draft pick to take Bogo at #8 in our draft and once he returned from the injury I was not disappointed. This kid can definitely play and will be scary good in a few years.
3. Burns (age 24) - he surprised me in 2008 and frustrated me in 2009 being being shut down. Hopefully he returns to 2008 form - having Lemaire gone in Minny should help that.
4. Coburn (age 24) - took a small step back back still as a #4 d-man did what I expected. I am still hoping that he gets to that 12 goal/30 assist plateau and stays there.
Lastly, my goalies:
1. Lundqvist (age 27) - love this guy, just wish the Rags were a better offensive team. He'll continue to help me win alot of games the next several years.
2. Price (age 21) - based purely on potential he might be the best of my goalies. Just picked him up in the Eric Staal deal. Only 21 yrs old, he should be better in 2009.
3. Markstrom (age 19 - farm team) - he's on my farm team and can stay there until he plays at least 25 NHL games. I am hoping the scouting reports are right as that would give me alot of trade options when he's NHL ready.
Anyway, no need for the long narratives like I did (unless you have the time), but very interested in your opinions on how you see my players and how you would rank them (especially the younger guys [Mueller, Turris, Colborne up front, Bogosian on the blueline and Price and Markstom in goal]).
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
