More big trades coming my way with my team pretty much out of the playoff race. Check out this one:
My: Alfredsson, Sundin, and Theodore His: Kubina, S. Bernier, MacArthur, Quick, 2nd round, 3rd round
kubina will be a big help on D, so i'm happy about that. the picks are also very solid. I'm a big Jon Quick fan, and I think he'll at least be the start for 09-10, if not beyond, so that's probably a lateral move from Theodore, if not an upgrade. My biggest concern is the loss of Alfredsson. It's a big step down to MacArthur and Bernier. Granted, I still have some elite players on my roster (thornton, briere, doan).
I dunno. I've been offered things like Dubinsky/Lupul just for Sundin, and could get a ton of return for Alfredsson. Just a week til the trade deadline, though, so it's almost a nice feeling to get it all over with in one fell swoop.
Thoughts?

Honestly I'd rather scrap Kubina, S. Bernier, MacArthur, and demand their 1st rounder as well. Go something like Quick, 1st, 2nd and 4th. You don't loose much with Sundin, and Theodore but Alfredson still has tons of keeper value. IMO no one has sent you a serious trade yet. And like you speculated I think you could get more trading them individually to various contendors. That Dubinsky/Lupul offer for Sundin is pretty good if you are no longer in contention. My advice is to go on the offensive. Since people are sending you pretty poor offers start demanding what you want in your own offers and make it clear to people that you are moving players like Sundin and Alfredson to a playoff bound team. You should get some more serious offers I also think you should ask yourself what you want your team to be next year so you can target specific players in your offers. Where do you want to improve.

what if i did
sundin FOR lupul/dubinsky/6th (this is the current offer on the table)
then
alfredsson/theodore FOR kubina/quick/2nd/3rd/macarthur or bernier
i doubt i'm gonna get a 1st rounder away from that guy.

I like that Sundin Deal. At best he plays one more season. Lupul and Dubinsky are 2 players that seem to get better every year and are showing signs of stardom. They may not become supoerstarts but for Sundin it aint bad. Then the alfredson deal gets better cause you also landed lupul and dubinsky on the side. Are their any other buyers for Alfredson?

haven't heard too much. of course everyone says they're interested, but they'll never throw an offer. i've been offered Boedker+ from the guy in the sundin deal.
also hearing interest for theodore from a third party, but nothing concrete.
seems like this sundin offer is too much to pass up unless it costs me the other deal.

I kinda like the Sundin deal even if it does cost you the other. I get the impression you're looking for depth amd Lupul and Dubinsky are just that. If the other deal falls through you're stuck with Alfredson not so bad really. Then you may have the #1 overall pick to land a really promissing prospect. Any other improvements can be put off till next season. Don't forget in theory you have Brier back next season to help be more competative

OK the latest offers:
Offer A: I give: Sundin He gives: Dubinsky, Lupul, 6th rounder
Offer B: I give: Sundin, Alfredsson, Theodore He gives: Kubina/MacArthur/Quick/S Bernier/1st/2nd
Offer C: I give: Alfredsson, Theodore He gives: Kubina/MacArthur/Quick/2nd/3rd
Offer D: I give: Alfredsson, Sundin He gives: Lupul/Dubinsky/Ry. Whitney/2nd/3rd/Clemmensen
So I could do Offer B, Offer D, or Offers A and C together.

Can you post the first and second round draft results in the leauge from this season? Just curious what 1st second rd players look like in this leauge.
I'm on the fence between B better picks and D better depth players.

I kinda like this one:
Offer B: I give: Sundin, Alfredsson, Theodore He gives: Kubina/MacArthur/Quick/S Bernier/1st/2nd
Losing Sundin won't really hurt because you haven't had him all season anyway plus next season he could retire or hold out again until late December before he decides to sign with another team...you don't want to have that headache around...and Theodore is not putting up good stats on a loaded Washington team, my bet is he isn't in Washington at all by the start of next season. Even if he is, hes not going to be a very reliable starting option as he is way to inconsistent.
You're essentially dealing Alfredsson for Kubina, a couple decent young forwards in MacArthur and Bernier and get younger in net with Quick...but the two draft picks is what makes this deal work. Even if that pick isn't a top two pick, the first 10 picks this summer are going to be huge...
you have Evander Kane, Jordan Schroeder, Matt Duchene, Brayden Schenn, Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi, Nazem Kadri...not to mention that if its no. 3 overall theres no guarantee in your league Victor Hedman will go no. 2 overall, so he might be an option as well. This is a pretty amazing group of top 10 picks for the 1st round, even deeper than last years group which was pretty darn deep.
I'd go for that one.

interesting.
if i could get Offer C to have a 1st/2nd instead of 2nd/3rd, would you then do A and C together?

Oh if you could do that it would be much better...you bring in Lupul instead of Bernier and add Dubinsky and a 6th rounder to the equation...I like Lupul about as much as Bernier, I wouldn't say I like either player more than the other, so you're not losing anything and you still only give up Sundin, Alffy and Theo.

yeah A and C are a clear winner if you can get the first rounder

I say getting that 1st rounder is the most important part of the trade though....don't let go of Alfredsson without a 1st rounder coming back.

so...
alfie/theodore FOR quick/kubina/macarthur/1st/2nd
AND
sundin FOR lupul/dubinsky/6th
If he doesn't accept that first trade, do I settle for 1st and 3rd rounders?

|
Post by Zoom Waffles on Feb 18, 2009 15:28:30 GMT -5
done... he's good on the kubina/quick/macarthur/1st/2nd for alfie/theodore
i think i made out pretty well, eh? thanks for all the help guys!

Yeah you are good on that first trade for sure...now that you have that one agreed upon and done...
have you shopped Sundin around your league? Are you sure the best player you can get for him is Dubinsky and Lupul?

i was also offered s. bernier, a 3rd rounder, and maybe more for him.
haven't heard any offers from anyone else.
on a side note... where does everyone stand on James Neal? Is he keeper material? I was offered a bench player and a pick, or two picks. I'm almost thinking i might just want to hang onto him...

Post by The Hockey Hitman on Feb 18, 2009 15:54:22 GMT -5
James Neal has 30 goal scorer written all over him...hes a really good young player for Dallas that I wouldn't recommend selling short. Definitely keeper material.
Zoom, in your league you guys keep 20 of your what 24 players?
|
|
|
Post by Zoom Waffles on Feb 18, 2009 19:45:16 GMT -5
keep at least 15, keep as many as 20, of 26 players

Post by Zoom Waffles on Feb 18, 2009 19:47:50 GMT -5
looks like james neal is definiteyl staying with me. check out this offer i just got. i'm almost definitely rejecting, but it's worth mentioning:
I give: Joe Thornton I drop: Raymond, Seabrook, Martin, Chimera I get: Ribeiro, Eriksson, Fleischmann, Tyutin, Pitkanen, Nilsson, 2nd round, 5th round, 5th round, 6th round

|
Post by j2kim on Feb 18, 2009 22:18:50 GMT -5
the ppl you would be dropping arent that much worse than most of those players coming in.
again, ribs is a decent 3rd or 4th option in C.
so then a few picks, most being last rounders.
easy decision.

hard to let such a superstar walk.
hey who is a solid young prospect at RW? I'm thinking of moving hejduk for a young RW and a pick.
brouwer? backes?
|
|
|
Post by The Hockey Hitman on Feb 19, 2009 4:21:09 GMT -5
Brouwer....no, not him.
Backes is going to be good for 20+ goals and 100+ PIM per season like a Scott Hartnell...I really like that guy.
Claude Giroux would be a good one. Bobby Ryan...Brad Boyes, Dustin Brown...what are you looking at here?
|
|
|
Post by Zoom Waffles on Feb 19, 2009 10:18:19 GMT -5
if i can throw around hejduk, demitra, and guys like that, i should have a decent shot at some of these people. Giroux is owned by a cup contender. has he been producing? or would a contender prefer to have hejduk for their playoff run?
|
|
|
Post by The Hockey Hitman on Feb 19, 2009 10:43:53 GMT -5
I think a contender would want to add some depth for a Cup run...a trade like Giroux for Hejduk is pretty fair for both parties straight up. I'd definitely dangle Alfredsson, Demitra and Kuba around and see what you might be able to get...all three of their value, especially Kuba's, will decrease when the season is done. Whats your updated roster look like now? And whats the status of that Sundin deal?
|
|
|
Post by Zoom Waffles on Feb 19, 2009 11:14:46 GMT -5
yeah i gotta change it. alfie's gone... sundin was traded for dubinsky/lupul/6th rounder...
basically...
C: Thornton, Briere, Cogliano, Dubinsky, Stajan, Demitra (LW), Sharp (LW), Lang LW: MacArthur, Neal, Hartnell, Raymond, Ponikarovsky, Prospal RW: Stempniak, Lupul, Doan (LW) D: Campbell, Wideman, Kubina, Martin, Zidlicky, Kuba, Seabrook G: Vokoun, Quick, McKenna
and I think I've got 2 firsts, 2 seconds, 2 sixths, and one of every other round. I'm anticipating replacing 8 players, so i'd be done by the early sixth round.

man, you really got rid of those guys quickly... but i liked the trades for you... this all but squash my chances to win.... i really thought i had a decent chance to repeat...
