This is my personal list of how I rank the goaltenders, using a tier system, for the 2008-09 season. Should be a good reference for most fantasy leagues this season. Feel free to submit your own lists, I'd like to see where people rank which goaltenders and why.
Top Tier - *3 or more straight seasons with at least 30 wins or more *SV% has not dipped below 91% in past three seasons
Brodeur, Luongo, Lundqvist, Giguere
Second Tier - (*30 or more wins each season but GAA and SV% too inconsistent, in Backstrom's case hes only played two seasons thats the only thing that prevents him from making first tier) Backstrom, Nabokov, Turco, Kiprusoff, Miller
Third Tier - (*stats over past three seasons not consistent/strong enough to warrant first or second tier, but still should considered to be some of the better goalies for fantasy hockey) Osgood, Leclaire, Fleury, Price, Bryzgalov, Huet, Biron, Vokoun
Fourth Tier - (*statisitical too inconsistent or unproven to warrant third tier status, also may be more of a potential injury concern problem, may not play enough games, starter role may be in jeopardy etc.)
Thomas, Lehtonen, DiPietro, Ward, Theodore, Legace, Toskala, Gerber, Ellis
Fifth Tier - (*ranges declining veterans, unproven rookies, poor stats and general question marks)
Conklin, Auld, Garon, Roloson, Budaj, Raycroft, Fernandez, Smith, Kolzig, Halak, Mason, Khabibulin, Ersberg, Labarbera, Joseph

Wow this is an interesting look at goalie stats. You wouldn't think the 4th tier in particular would be such a hodge podge of people, and the 3rd tier is full of hit and miss goalies.
It seems like I've had every one of the 5th tier goalies on my fantasy teams at one point or another. Some of them killed me, some of them carried me through some rough times too though.

Any chance of you tiering every position HH? I used the tier drafting system for baseball this season and that combined with my limited baseball knowledge has me in a three way battle for first (in a 12 man league!).
Because of the tier drafting I knew exacly when I should take who at what position. It essentially layed the whole draft out for me. While guys were drafting pitchers in the first five rounds, I filled up on high end IFs and a solid catcher, because I knew there tons of evenly ranked pitchers out there.
I'm definitely trying a tiered draft system in Hockey this year.

Funny you say that Zipper, cause I've been working on doing this exact thing. Look for it in the coming week or so. Any chance of you tiering every position HH? My draft isn't for another couple of weeks, so that's perfect!

That's a nice list, I'll probably keep this handy as I do my first live draft tonight. However, I think you lowballed Toskala considerably (I would think that ). He's not an injury concern, not in jeopardy of losing the starting job, neither inconsistent nor unproven (debatable I suppose). He's just... a Leaf. In my opinion, he's a better option than the 3rd-tiers listed with the exceptions of Leclaire and Price, who are unproven but certainly worthwhile "risks".
