Wow, I never realized how badly the Flames needed another top six forward untill I read this article. They've only got three guys who can put up numbers (Iginla, Cammalleri, Langkow), and they have two guys who they hope can put up numbers (Bertuzzi, Lombardi), but beyond that they have a bunch of fourth liners and Craig Conroy. They have a solid D, buw how do these guys score?

The way I see it, it's all about consistency. Last years first line was awesome. This year they have new pieces to the puzzle, which broke up that line. For some reason, the Flames like to play "back 2", which consists on a center, 3 wings, and a D on the powerplay. Without Pfaneuf there, they would be in serious trouble.
glad you liked the article

Conroy, Glencross, Bourque and Moss have provided plenty of secondary scoring IMO. Good read idiopathic, hope to see more like this in the future.
Oh boy...Matthew Lombardi, talk about a guy who needs a change of scenery.

I'm surprized Glencross, Borque and Moss have put up numbers, but I don't see them keeping it up. If Kipper doesn't get it together I could see the Flames finishing last in the division..... though them finishing first isn't out of the question either.

Nah, last in the Northwest is especially reserved for the Colorado Avalanche.

I'm loving the Northwest updates!
This just shows how crucial Joe Sakic is to this team. With him the team has two legitimate scoring lines, because if you put him with the underachieving Wolski and Svatos that line can score. However, if Tyler Arnason is the second line centre, they are in big trouble. Maybe the Avs have pioneered the Foresberg comeback rumours.

Glad you like IdioLogic!
It would be very intriguing to see Forseberg back with the Avs, but I don't see that occuring unfortunately. The Avs look to be re-building from the farm system, and really thats the smart thing to do. It's been noted that they want to take the same steps as the Penguins did 3-4 years back, with their young players. It will be about that long until the Avs are a powerhouse again.

I expect the Avs to be major sellers at the trade deadline. Arnason, Leopold, Tucker, Hejduk, Foote, Clark, Salei and Tjarnqvist are all potential candidates to be dealt. If I were Colorado I'd stock up on some 2009 draft picks, as it will be a very deep draft class, arguably deeper than 2008's.

I agree. If the Rangers don't end up getting Sundin, they could make a run for Hejduk

Hejduk would be a good fit in Pittsburgh too. But I guess lots of teams are looking for scoring wingers.

Oh, Hejduk to Pittsburgh would be great for the Pens...
say, Leopold + Hejduk for Ryan Whitney and a draft pick.

that's a beautiful trade.

I think the Pens would need to give up a bit more for that trade to happen

I'm not so sure they would have to add more. Hejduk isn't exactly a top tier winger, hes just below there, so I think getting a good young no. 2 defenseman in Whitney is a pretty good exchange.

If they gave Whitney, Armstrong , and a pick... I could see that work

Wow, with all the underachievers in Edmonton it's a wonder how MacTavish still has his job. They must love him in Edmonton. Even if you say Hemsky and Horcoff are living up to their potential (which is debatable) you still have Cole, Penner, Gagner, Nilsson, Visnovsky who are tanking this year.
These guys should have been the team to beat in the division this year, but instead they are the the same lowly Oilers who missed the playoffs last year.
