Tue, Dec 16 Briere (groin) has been placed on the long-term injury list and will be out at least four more weeks, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Recommendation: The move was made to be able to bring Randy Jones off the injury list but it is a sign that Briere's injury is severe and they will not rush him back again, especially with the Flyers playing so well (12-1-3 in their last 16). (Rotowire.com)

He *may* be back for last month of season now after finally getting around to getting surgery Jan 22.
Daniel Briere is this year's fantasy hockey poison pill. Curse you Danny Briere, you and your little dog too!

Briere's return ahead of schedule Daniel Briere believes he'll return before his initial target date of February 25.
Briere underwent groin and abdominal surgery on January 22. He said that a return by the weekend is possible. However, coach John Stevens said that next Tuesday's tilt against the Capitals is more likely. We'll keep you updated on his status as the weekend approaches. Sad part is the Flyers still have the cap issues to resolve.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Briere traded.

Atlanta maybe? They sure could use a 1st line center like him...I think a deal like that would make sense for them...I think a Kovalchuk-Briere duo could be quite explosive.
Colorado is another potential suitor..Florida maybe, in exchange for Bouwmeester?

what could atlanta possibly offer philly? little? white?
Colorado for Leopold? JBo doesn't do much to help their cap situation does he? actually just checked... it'd save philly 1.7 mil.

I'm hearing about Philly's cap problems and to take Briere off LTIR would put them over the cap. Briere's injury problems, coupled with the emergence of Jeff Carter makes Briere expendable. It would be a salary dumping move of sorts is what I figure. Maybe Atlanta sends some salary back, but I think Philadelphia is looking to move Briere and that huge contract of his. We'll see...

Eklund claims Philly won't move briere until after the season. The only time I actually have any faith in what he says is when he's talking about the Flyers. We'll see.

Well, I don't hate Eklund like some people do or anything like that, but anything the guy posts you have to take with a grain of salt...I mean of all the things he posts, which is quite a lot, very, very few of the rumors ever turn out to be actual trades. This website here[/url] reports he has a 3.5%, not thirty five, but three point five percent(lol) success ration since Jan. when that site opened.

I would believe the 3.5%. It's not that I think he's making things up, but I do believe he's misleading. If he finds out the Thrashers and Islanders are talking a deal, he'll find a way to make you think they're talking about Kovalchuk, when it's really Junior Lessard for Brett Skinner.
I havn't read any of his stuff since the summer, so I guess he could have changed. I read Spector every day, and though he only reports half the rumours, he makes three times more sense.

a good example of the stuff he does...
Greg Malone is a scout for Tampa, and uses Pittsburgh as his headquarters. He watches more than half of Pittsburgh's home games to see the teams they play against. Ek will report "Tampa is scouting Pittsburgh, could a deal be in the works?" Then people start going crazy with Marty St. Louis to Pittsburgh rumors.

Mar 6 Briere exited Thursday night's 5-1 loss to the visiting Flames after tweaking a groin injury that already forced him to miss 51 games this season.
are you freaking kidding us!?!!
Glass! He's made of glass I say. Oh, I thought I was so smart, drafting him in the 4th round, knowing he'd be RW eligible soon....why , why why hockey gods? Nobody loves Sid the Sloth!
in other news, I've had a terrible year for my draft, my moves and my injuries and I'm holding down the #2 slot. I guess the hockey gods were nice enough to send me Little Koivu.
